Teaching Students About Heat Transfer
Heat transfer is one of the those science concepts that connects several different topics. Heat transfer explains ocean currents, the jet stream, plate tectonics and more! Obviously, heat transfer is something your students need to master before they can understand these other topics. Unfortunately, most teachers do not spend enough time explaining heat transfer in the context of these various topics. As a first year science teacher, I know I didn’t.
To keep heat transfer simple, I created a simple, two-page handout that reminds students about the three types of heat transfer and how they work. I would shrink these pages so they could be glued into science notebooks and give them to students at the end of my unit on heat transfer. Then, whenever we study a topic related to heat transfer I would refer to the pages to help students label their new diagrams. After referring back to the heat transfer pages repeatedly throughout the year, my students will have both memorized and mastered heat transfer.
Luckily for you, these heat transfer pages are a freebie. By downloading the freebie, you agree to join my email list which is a double bonus because I send helpful information and freebies out every week. Of course, if you don’t like awesome emails, you are welcome to unsubscribe and keep the freebie.
